At Kalpasara Studio, we are a Kathmandu-based architecture and interior design firm specializing in hospitality architecture, heritage architecture, and sustainable architecture. For over two decades we have designed hotels, resorts, boutique properties, and culturally rooted spaces that celebrate Nepal’s unique identity while delivering contemporary comfort and lasting performance.

Hospitality Architecture & Resort Design
Heritage Hotel Design, Cultural Preservation & Contextual Architecture
We approach heritage architecture with deep respect for Nepal’s living traditions—Newari craftsmanship, Tharu spatial patterns, indigenous materials, and vernacular building knowledge. Our work includes adaptive reuse of historic structures, integration of traditional motifs into new construction, and designs that strengthen cultural identity while meeting modern performance needs.
In the Xavier Academy college building competition (1st Runner-Up, SONA National Design Competition 2024), we drew from Kathmandu Valley precedents—temple plinths, brick jaali, telescopic windows—while addressing climate, community gathering, and sustainability. The design preserved an existing mature tree and minimized excessive glazing.
We collaborate with local artisans and cultural experts so that brickwork, timber joinery, textiles, and decorative arts carry authentic meaning. The result is architecture that feels rooted rather than referential—spaces that honor the past while serving the present.

True sustainable architecture begins with context. We design eco-resorts, climate-responsive buildings, and low-impact interiors that respond to Nepal’s diverse climates using passive strategies, local materials, natural ventilation, daylighting, and thermal mass. We prioritize indigenous materials—brick, timber, stone, natural fibers—and meaningful employment of local skills.
At Meghauli Serai, local craft and materials reduced reliance on imported finishes while enriching the guest experience. In institutional and commercial projects we limit excessive glazing on challenging façades, preserve existing mature trees, and design for long-term resilience. Sustainability for us is not a checklist; it is a commitment to places that perform well, age gracefully, support local economies, and reduce environmental burden.
